Looking across from Ffordd 6G, in 1999,
at the sad site of the neglected carriage shed . The site was cleared
only a few months after this photo was taken and the whole story became
just a memory.
The shed was opened in 1899 by the
L.N.W.R. The original code 7A, was changed in 1952 to 6G and remained
until closure 3rd October 1966. The carriage shed remained until
2000 and became the "new" shed for diesel locos and re-coded LJ.

the site of the carriage shed and the new "Ffordd 6G (Road 6G)
has swallowed up the site of the steam shed and sidings.

The view opposite is from 1963 showing the modern
structure , with a selection of British Railways Standard Class 2 tanks
ready for service. The carriage shed roof , then in good condition ,
can be seen in the background. [Norman Kneale]
It's 1989 and Class 155 units are stored at LJ. They were out of
service with door faults. This was when they were fairly new and before
they were converted to single car 153's. The exact date is unknown, but
it is interesting to see the carriage shed in 1989, still in relatively
good condition. It's sad when we consider what took place over the next
ten years.

At £1.50 entrance fee the Betws-y-Coed Railway museum must
be the best value for money, for any Welsh tourist attraction. If you
are interested in railway models or nostalgia, I would recommend you
pay a visit to this attraction, which has plenty of detail and photo's
of the Llandudno area.

May 15th 2004..... 6G
is now one year old and has recorded 17,455 site visitors
since inception. When I published the site on May 15th 2003, I
thought it would attract a few hundred visitors, so I am amazed at the
response I have received. I would like to thank all of you who have
shown an interest and I hope you have enjoyed the content. I hope
to keep the site going, and with your help keep it interesting and
fresh. So I appeal again to anyone who has any information or detail I
could use, please contact me on the link below. (Geoff)
MAY 15th 2005........ 6G is now two years old, and has
attracted 43,355 visitors
in that two years. There are links to the site from websites all over
the world which have increased the visitor numbers, but the bulk of
interest is still from the North Wales area. Thanks again to all
contributors for helping to keep me on my toes as hopefully, together,
we have helped to keep the 6G story fresh and interesting as the many
emails I receive would seem to indicate. So if you enjoy your visit

with another big increase in visitor figures to 6G.
78930 a really impressive increase again. This last
year has seen the

Steam

has
proved
very
popular
and
has
given
the
platform
to
publish
photo's
of
the
steam

the

line.

I
think,
provide
great
interest
for
all
visitors.
Tom
is
going
to

memories,

I'm

will
